I bought this set to replace a bad motor on my Syma X5. The Syma motor was not functioning reliably any longer, requiring a *flick* to engage and run, so I looked around. I replaced the bad motor with the appropriate motor from this set and the drone functioned just like new again. The motor RPM and power is identical to the originals so there was no need to make any trim adjustments to the drone function at all. Great replacement.

These motors are a good price, have matching nylon gears so they won’t damage the existing rotor gears on the Syma (mixing brass and plastic is a recipe for wearing out the plastic teeth). The motors in this set are a full replacement for the Syma motors with two clockwise and two anti-clockwise motors. You can tell which is which when you are replacing the OEM motors because the wiring is different color (just do one at a time so that you don’t lose track of which goes where.

The most basic of soldering skills is required to replace the motor. Open up the drone and look at the circuit board. Follow the leads from the motors to the board and gently un-solder them. Remove and discard the old motor, hold the new motor leads (match up the wire color to the wire that you just removed, it’s that simple) and re-solder. I didn’t add any additional solder or flux, just used the existing bead that remained on the board when I removed the first motor and it was done.

Soldered it into my X5C (first-time solderer- read up, be careful of the fumes and you’ll be okay too) with a cheap-o soldering iron & rosin-core solder.

Within 50 minutes, I had my beloved X5C back in the air, good as ever with its new left rear motor.

These are exactly the same as the stock motors. Tip for newbies: before disassembling your quad, Sharpie “clockwise” or “counterclockwise” on your airframe by each motor, and prop, to help you match up which motor to put where.

4 stars only because, like the stock motors they replicate, they are brushed instead of brushless, which like most or all cheap quad motors will probably doom them to mere months of moderate to heavy use before wearing out.

Exact Perfect Replacement Propellers For Potensic D85 Drone, December 22, 2019

The propellers in this kit are a perfect fit for the Potensic D85 drone. The reason I am writing about the Potensic D85 is due to the high price Potensic has for a spare propeller pack. Save yourself $10 and get this spare parts kit. You can’t use anything but the propellers but that’s OK.

Another reason is there are other propeller packages listed as fitting the Potensic D85 but they are not the correct size. The props for the Bugs 3 Pro are 190 mm or about 7.5 inches in length. The Potensic D85 and Holy Stone HS700D use 8 inch long propellers. Makes a BIG difference in flight capability and stability of the drone.

So be aware and ensure you get the correct size propellers for your drone. I installed these Holy Stone HS700D propellers on my Potensic D85 and they work perfectly.

Now I have to buy a Holy Stone HS700D to use these other spare parts in this package. 🙂

I’ve gotten it to close to the trees and one of the prop protectors is gone. I guess the prop just sends it sailing. So it’s good to have extras as I’ve landed it a couple of times with one of my prop protestors gone. The props are fine, I’m not sure if I’ll need any of those, but you can’t buy the prop protectors by themselves.
